Former RHAM Youth Lacrosse Player Sam Izzarelli (Hebron, CT) `12 to become a Manhattan College Jasper
November 10, 2011: This morning Xavier senior Sam Izzarelli `12 from Hebron took the next step toward his college career signing a National Letter of Intent (NLI) accepting an athletic scholarship to play NCAA Division 1 Lacrosse for the
Manhattan College Jaspers under Coach Tim McIntee in Riverdale, NY.
At Xavier Sam has played Varsity Lacrosse for the past three seasons under Head Coach Scott Basile. Sam has been named Team Co- Captain for the 2012 season and is a Defenseman for the Falcons as well as a Long Stick Midfielder. Sam also plays for the Progression Lacrosse Hurricanes in the summer and fall leagues.

With Sam this morning, were his parents, Darcy and Samuel and brother Tom who is a sophomore at Xavier. Joining them from school were Coach Basile, Headmaster Brother Brian Davis, C.F.X., Director of Athletics Mr. Anthony Jaskot `69, Principal Mr. Brendan Donohue and guidance counselor Mrs. Joan Tomasiello.
In addition to excelling at Lacrosse, Sam’s academic honors at Xavier include his induction into the Monsignor Wilson Chapter of the National Honors Society as well as the National Latin Exam Award – Magna cum Laude in 2009. Sam played Freshman Football at Xavier and ran for the JV Cross Country Team in his sophomore year. Sam is also a member of the Xavier Columbia Squires Chapter, Xavier Debate Team, Model UN and the Environthon Clubs. In 2010 Sam was recognized with the Best Delegate Award at the Fairfield University Model UN Conference. Sam is an Eagle Scout with Troop 28 of the Boy Scouts of America in Hebron.
